What Changed in Palworld 1.0

Palworld 1.0 launched on July 10, 2026 with 72 new Pals: 47 brand-new ones and 25 variants. The developers also reworked breeding combinations so that powerful Pals arrive later in progression, and the old shortcuts to top-tier Pals are gone.

The best-known example is Penking + Bushi. Before 1.0 that pair gave Anubis. Now it gives Sibelyx. The reason is simple: the 72 new Pals were slotted into the hidden breeding-power order, which pushed many familiar recipes onto a different result.

Other things that are new in 1.0:

• Mutation: breeding now has a low chance of hatching a Pal stronger than the normal result.
• Four new advanced Cakes in addition to the standard Cake.
• The Ancient Hatchery, which automates part of the process.
• New passive skills such as Babysitter, which gives +30% breeding and hatching speed at a Breeding Farm.

Same-Species-Only Pals

Some Pals can no longer be reached by cross-breeding. You need two parents of the same species, which means you have to catch at least one first. This group includes the five tower-boss Pals (Faleris, Shadowbeak, Grizzbolt, Orserk and Lyleen) and legendaries such as Frostallion, Jetragon, Paladius and Necromus.

If any calculator, including an old one, shows a cross-species recipe for these Pals, its data is out of date.

How Breeding Works

1. Unlock the Breeding Farm. It needs Technology Level 19. Check the current recipe in game, because the building materials changed in 1.0 and older guides are outdated.
2. Assign one male and one female Pal to the same Breeding Farm.
3. Keep Cake in stock. Breeding needs at least one Cake.
4. Collect the Egg when the breeding meter fills, then hatch it in an incubator.

How the Game Picks the Child

Every Pal has a hidden breeding-power value (often called CombiRank). When two different species breed, the game averages their two values and gives you the Pal whose value is closest to that average.

Here is an illustration with made-up numbers (the real values are hidden in the game files). If Parent A has a value of 400 and Parent B has 800, the average is 600, and the child is whichever Pal sits closest to 600 in the list.

This explains why recipes shifted in 1.0. The roster got 72 new entries, so the “closest Pal to the average” changed for many pairs, even though the formula itself stayed the same.

Which Direction Should You Use?

Parents → Child is for checking a pairing before you spend Cake. Pick the two Pals you own and see what you’ll get.

Target → Parents is better for planning. Start from the Pal you want, then look at every working pair and choose the one made of Pals you already own or can catch easily. Popular targets often have many valid routes, so you rarely need an exotic parent.

A Simple Breeding Plan

1. Decide your target first, whether for combat, base work or finishing the Paldeck.
2. Search that target and list all its parent pairs.
3. Pick the pair you can build from Pals you already have.
4. If you care about passive skills, choose the pair that carries the better ones, even if it adds one generation.
5. Stock enough Cake before starting a multi-step chain.

Common Mistakes

• Using a pre-July 2026 chart or screenshot.
• Planning a cross-species route to a same-species-only Pal.
• Starting a long chain without enough Cake.
• Ignoring passive skills and only looking at the species.
• Trusting a calculator that doesn’t say which game version it covers.
